A lifetime of experience and a superb brand has created exciting business growth opportunities for Daniel …

Dan Galati

Daniel Galati recently added a third Mullucks office to his portfolio, after Mullucks Old Harlow in Essex was created following a business merger. Already the owner of Mullucks Bishop’s Stortford and Mullucks Saffron Walden, it is clear that Daniel’s passion for business growth and commitment to the brand is as strong as ever, and he continues to look for further expansion opportunities. Daniel has worked in estate agency since the age of 16, and there is not a lot that he doesn’t know about the business. Having worked his way up through the ranks until finally becoming his own boss, Daniel’s journey to joining Mullucks seemed a natural progression.

“I began my career as a Sales Negotiator with an agency in Bishop’s Stortford,” he recalls. “I stayed there for five years and then went on holiday and met my future wife, who was from South West London. I moved to London to become an agent and then returned to set up my own business. I retained that business for several years, with one office in Bishop’s Stortford and another in Great Dunmow, and then merged the business with another partner. That particular partnership didn’t work out, but I was very aware of the Mullucks brand, which had been around since the 1970s and had an excellent reputation. Instinctively, I felt this could be where my future might lie.

“I rang the founder, Tom Mullock, who had just retired, and he agreed to give me a chance tobecome an Equity Director. I provided him with a business plan and underwent what amounted to a year-long job interview! After working hard, freshening things up, and securing the help of a great team, I hit all my targets and was welcomed on board as an Equity Director.

“Today there are 38 people in the Mullucks team and following recent business expansion we are looking to recruit more people. We currently manage 700 residential units, so have a fairly large Property Management team, as well as a busy Commercial Department and an Accounts Department.

“Business expansion is always exciting, and when we were approached by Howick and Brooker, a well-established and reputable local business regarding the possibility of merging and rebranding to Mullucks it seemed an excellent opportunity. Howick and Brooker was first launched 50 years ago by Alan Howick and initially managed by Barbara Brooker. They entered into a business partnership in 1986 to create Howick and Brooker, which became very successful and was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024. This milestone seemed a natural time for Alan and Barbara to take a step back, so I was delighted when they approached me with a view to merging the business and rebranding to Mullucks.

“The merger, which created a third Mullucks office, has been very positive. Firstly, it has raised local brand awareness for Mullucks and significantly expanded our lettings portfolio. In addition, as Mullucks has a commercial department and also specialises in the sale of land and new homes, Mullucks Old Harlow now offers a range of extended services to clients. The merger also seemed a good time to relocate our office in Epping to Old Harlow, which had been in existence for ten years.

“The response from clients has been excellent. Paul and Giles Brooker who are Barbara’s sons, as well as James Howick, who is Alan Howick’s son, have all stayed on to work in Mullucks Old Harlow, and this means that people are able to enjoy enhanced services from familiar faces.

With regards to future plans, should the right opportunity present itself, the Mullucks brand is definitely in the market for further growth.

Mullucks initially joined the Hunters franchise network in 2019, and after Hunters was acquired by TPFG in 2021 our brand continued to thrive. From a marketing point of view our association with TPFG has been excellent. The TPFG team are great at sending out legislative updates, and their support is second to none.
